  • climbing mahawu volcanoe

    • The climb of the Mahawu volcano starts at an altitude of 1000 meters and within an hour you have reached the top, from were you have a good view of the crater lake as well as of the surrounding area including the national park Bunaken.
  • interesting tomohon market

    • After descending you can visit the colorful market of Tomohon. The Minahasa are known for eating everything with at least two legs, so you will find dogs, rats and bats ready to take home and to cook. Together with very spicy sambal these animals make a very fine dish.
  • cooking class in the forest

    • With a local family who live in the forest at the foot of the Mahawu volcanoe you can learn how to cook traditional dishes, but don’t worry, dogs, rats and bats are not on the menu!
  • biking volcanic lands

    • Another way of taking in the amazing surroundings is by mountainbike. It is a mountainous area, so keep in mind there will be ascends as well as descends. Nevertheless, you will pass places you can’t go to by car or are too far on foot, leaving you in a beautiful untouched landscape enjoying stunning views.
