  • sasak people

    • Lombok is home to the Sasak people who live in small villages around Mount Rinjani. When visiting these villages you can see the their unique culture, a mix of Hinduism and Islam. The area on the southern slope of Rinjani mountain is very fertile and rice and tobacco are being planted here all year round. An area great for walking. You walk through rice fields, tobacco fields, crossing small rivers and streams, enjoying the view of the Rinjani mountain and passing several traditional villages. Often you will pass small traditional markets were you can have a look and bargain for fruits or sweets. The women weave beautiful clothes using natural dye and several decoration techniques. Pottery is another handicraft famous from the area.

  • gili islands

    • From the mainland of Lombok you can see three little islands just off the coast. These are of course the famous tropical Gili Islands; Gili Trawangan, Gili Air and Gili Meno. Gili Meno is fringed by a nice white sandy beach and coral gardens. It also has a nice bird park were all sorts of birds are being held. Enjoy snorkeling, swimming, viewing the sunset and walking on the island.
